☀️ Summer Space Transformation: "Mitian Mud × Yiyu/Jian" Earthen Wall Workshop 🌿

Even before I started operating this space, I envisioned promoting my beliefs, lifestyle, and attitudes in a place close to nature—a place where I believed life originates from and ends in nature. In this space, I would learn restoration, practice simplicity, understand nature, understand myself, and explore the ecology of life and nature. Later, during my search, I encountered Yi Yu Jian (一愈/间), one of the birthplaces of Waldorf education in Hong Kong. I lived here ten years ago; it's a land that nurtured Waldorf education and my own growth. 🌱

Facing this small garden, which had been neglected for a while, my good friends and I cleared the waist-high weeds 🌿 and dug the soil with our hands and feet. We were often bitten by mosquitoes 🦟 and felt like we were going crazy 😫. The two silly ladies and other friends who came to help were very dedicated and put in a lot of effort to rebuild the micro-ecosystem of the space 💚. Although it is a small garden, it contains infinite vitality and possibilities.

One day, while attending Iron Man's permaculture workshop, I was deeply moved by his nature-friendly architectural work. It would be so meaningful to complete such small-scale design and construction projects myself in my lifetime 💛, so I invited Iron Man to "Yi Yu/Jian" (a space name). As we talked, we hoped to use this space to explore the possibilities of eco-friendliness and micro-ecosystems. Gradually, the possibilities of EGO (Environmental, Organic, and Social) become part of daily life, and I am also quietly learning in this process. If each of us learns to respect the land and cherish its resources, what a sustainable and thriving world the entire planet would be!

I cherish the time I spend here and hope to have the opportunity to actively create a positive micro-ecosystem, next to the rice paddies that once nurtured rice 🌾, a vibrant place. The land is the place that nurtures all living things, and I truly learn from the soil and the earth.

.

In this space dedicated to promoting eco-friendly and gentle production, architecture is more than just cement and bricks; it's a symphony about the origins of life and the ecological garden. This time, we invite you to touch the "skin" of this space and join us in creating this collaborative interior plastering project using the most down-to-earth rice-based clay. 🍂

🍂 Why soil? Why is it related to Mother Earth?

Soil is the womb of all things. It bears, contains, and nurtures, just like every mother. This is not merely a renovation project, but a collective healing and creative process of returning to our origins:

🌿Memories of touch: The warm, moist feeling of soil mixed with straw is just like the body temperature that life first touched.

💛A space to breathe: The soil of Mitian has a natural breathing feel. It can regulate humidity and filter out odors, providing the purest shelter for the life and stories that will be born here in the future.

✨Gentle labor: Plastering a wall is a practice of patience. Each layer is like building up the expectation of a new life little by little during pregnancy.

🧱 We're looking to recruit someone like you.

🤎No professional architectural background is required, all you need is a heart willing to learn from the gentleness and humility of the earth.

We will learn together:

1. 🤎 Understanding Soil Materials: The Proportion and Texture of Rice Field Soil.

2. 💛Plastering Techniques: Learn how to use a spatula to gently yet firmly smooth this "indoor skin"—a knowledge shared by an expert after studying in Japan.

3. 🤎Collaborative Creation: In an eco-friendly atmosphere, experience the flow and connection between people and between people and the land.
