Organized by the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning (MOCAUP) and co-organized by the Science + Art Joint Laboratory, the solo exhibition "Shen Shaomin: -20 Degrees Celsius," curated by Li Zhenhua, will be on display from March 22 to June 21, 2026. Through the cyclical changes of snow, ice, and water, artist Shen Shaomin creates a captured and preserved winter scene, leading viewers to re-experience winter through bodily perception and memory.

The exhibition uses two giant air-supported membrane structures to create an immersive space. After entering the enclosed white area, visitors feel as if they have entered a segmented winter scene. The continuously falling snow accumulates naturally on the ground, creating a realistic and chilling sensory experience. Through the different states of snow, ice, and water, the works present a sense of time and the flow of life in winter, making winter not just a memory, but an existence that can be personally felt.

The two air-supported spaces subtly differ in temperature, airflow, and light: one space creates a quiet, pure white field with continuous snowfall; the other space allows ice and water to slowly change, revealing the hidden energy and direction within winter. The entire exhibition is like a magnified, preserved, and restarted northern winter, inviting visitors into a winter scene that lies between nature and artifice, reality and memory.

Program Details
